British woman Grace Millane, 22, missing during year out in New Zealand

Police are continuing to investigate the disappearance of missing 22-year-old English tourist Grace Millane.

Miss Millane, of Billericay, Essex, wrote on Twitter on November 19: 'Of course it's raining when I arrive to New Zealand'.

"At this stage, Grace was last sighted around 7pm on Saturday, 1 December, on Victoria Street, Auckland CBD".

Grace Millane's other brother, Michael Millane, said she had travelled to South America with an organised group, before arriving in New Zealand two weeks ago.

She was last seen by her roommates at Base Backpackers Hostel on Saturday, and her brother Declan Millane said on Thursday that most of her belongings had been left there.

Michael Millane said calls to his sister's mobile were going straight through to voicemail.

During that time she had been in touch with her family daily through WhatsApp.

But the 22-year-old was last in contact with her family the day before her birthday, on Sunday, and concerns for her safety are now mounting.

Her father is said to be travelling to New Zealand to look for her.

The family have posted a plea on Facebook in the hope other travellers in New Zealand can help in the search.

'We are working with the family in the United Kingdom and New Zealand Police in relation to reports of a missing British national in New Zealand, ' he said.

She has brown hair and brown eyes and is approximately 5ft 6in (168cm) in height, and 58 kg.

Tony McLeod, consular manager at the British High Commission in Wellington, said the commission were providing consular assistance to the family back in the UK.

'She never said anything to make us concerned.

Various sightings of Millane have her last wearing a black top, blue jeans and red sneakers.

Base Backpackers declined to comment.

"We've spoken to a number of people at the backpackers because she was in a room that at least four people were staying in", he said.

"She hasn't really replied to any messages between the family and it was her birthday on Sunday and she didn't respond to any messages".

Police confirmed a missing person's report was filed today for Millane.

"We are working with the family in the United Kingdom and New Zealand Police in relation to reports of a missing British national in New Zealand", he said.
