A suicide auto bomber attacked a police headquarters in the southeastern Iranian port city of Chabahar on Thursday, killing at least three people and wounding several others, state TV reported.

The state news agency IRNA said some 24 people had been wounded. "Three people were killed and some others were injured", Chabahar's governor Rahmdel Bameria told state TV.

Chabahar city governor Rahmdel Bameri said earlier that four people were killed and many more wounded when the bomber blew up a auto, but later revised the death toll to two.

State television reported shooting in the area shortly after the explosion.

No militant group immediately claimed responsibility.
