General view of damages after a suicide car bomber outside a police station in Chabahar

A suicide auto bomber attacked a police headquarters in the southeastern Iranian port city of Chabahar on Thursday, killing at least three people and wounding several others, state TV reported.

A number of Iranian media have reported a auto explosion in the largest port city in Sistan-and-Balochistan province, Chabahar.

The state news agency IRNA said some 24 people had been wounded. "Three people were killed and some others were injured", Chabahar's governor Rahmdel Bameria told state TV.

Chabahar city governor Rahmdel Bameri said earlier that four people were killed and many more wounded when the bomber blew up a auto, but later revised the death toll to two.

State television reported shooting in the area shortly after the explosion.

No militant group immediately claimed responsibility.

"Foreign-backed terrorists kill & wound innocents in Chabahar", Zarif said on Twitter on December 6. The perpetrators behind this dastardly attack should be brought to justice expeditiously.

Chabahar, near Iran's border with Pakistan on the Sea of Oman, is home to a newly built port and is an economic free zone.
