Trump 'building new liberal order' to prevent wars, Mike Pompeo says

US President Donald Trump

Pompeo's speech came as NATO foreign ministers meet to discuss the latest tensions with Moscow after a naval clash between Russian Federation and Ukraine and with a landmark Cold War arms control treaty hanging by a thread. U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is in Brussels to attend a two-day meeting of North Atlantic Treaty Organisation foreign ministers.

U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo questioned whether many pillars of global trade and diplomacy are still relevant as he singled out China, Iran and Russian Federation on Tuesday for violating treaties and multistate agreements.

U.S. President Donald Trump pulled out of an worldwide nuclear agreement in May and reimposed sanctions on the Islamic Republic, criticizing the deal for not including curbs on Iran's development of ballistic missiles. He said a lack of American and European leadership over the last 30 years had contributed to the malaise.

"Quite the opposite. In the finest traditions of our great democracy, we are rallying the noble nations of the world to build a new liberal order that prevents war and achieves greater prosperity for all." .

The speech drew polite applause from the audience in Brussels but also sharp criticism from some quarters.

"U.S. [is] proliferating advanced weapons to extremists [including] Al Qaeda & ISIS [Islamic State]", Mr. Zarif tweeted, referring to a British newspaper report that said many arms supplied by Britain and the United States had ended up in the hands of militias fighting in the Yemen war. "The United States has repeatedly warned the world about Iran's deliberate efforts to destabilize the Middle East and defy worldwide norms". "This is the most important thing that we must do and the government is putting forth all its efforts on this issue".

He said organizations such as the United Nations, European Union, African Union, the International Monetary Fund and World Bank have become corroded are in dire need of change. China, Iran and Russian Federation all deny the charges, which the US makes frequently. Pompeo said it's our mission to reassert sovereignty and help our friends assert their sovereignty as well. "Words should mean something".

Shadman received some support from Soumya Sarkar (19), Mominul Haque (29) and Mohammad Mithun (29) before he was dismissed. Shakib Al Hasan and Mehidy Hasan Miraz bowled through the West Indies top order to compound a hard day for the visitors.

In May, U.S. President Donald Trump pulled Washington out of the nuclear deal approved before he took office, and reimposed sanctions on Tehran.

The Trump administration has been accused by friends and foes alike of attacking the worldwide order with its unilateral approach to many issues.

The nuclear deal provides for a lifting of sanctions against Iran in return for curbs on its nuclear activities. The secretary of state called the three nations "bad actors" that had exploited loopholes within global institutions for their own gain, and vowed the US would continue to call out such behavior.

During their closed door meeting in Brussels, Netanyahu was said to have told Pompeo that Israel would act militarily against Hezbollah if Lebanon failed to confront the Iranian proxy terror group. "This is outside the framework of [nuclear] negotiations and part of our national security, for which we will not ask any country's permission", Shekarchi said.

"We are acting to preserve, protect and advance an open, just, transparent and free world of sovereign states".

"This project will require actual, not pretend, restoration of the liberal order among nations".

Pompeo was in Brussels for a meeting of North Atlantic Treaty Organisation foreign ministers.
