These are the 10 best places to work in 2019

According to the leading job website Glassdoor's annual "100 Best Places to Work in the US" list that came out on Wednesday, Boston-based management consulting firm Bain & Co. has been ranked No 1.

"Glassdoor Best Places to Work winners are strategically investing in company culture, career growth opportunities and more, which also serves as a major recruiting advantage".

According to a report in the Wall Street Journal last month citing an internal survey at Facebook, just over half of Facebook employees (52 per cent) said they were optimistic about the future of the social networking platform - down by 32 per cent previous year.

Of the top 100 large companies, 29 were tech companies. Companies are required to have at least 1,000 employees and 75 company reviews on Glassdoor, which uses an algorithm to calculate the rankings that assesses the quantity, quality and consistency of Glassdoor-approved company reviews shared by employees between October 23, 2017 and October 21, 2018.

Tech companies accounted for 14 of the top 50 spots this year, down from 22 tech brands last year. Employees on the site praised Facebook for its compensation and benefits, giving it a 4.6 rating out of 5, according to Glassdoor.

The 19-year-old later revealed that he was in contact with Arsene Wenger before joining PSG in 2017. I put in a good word [for him], because he'd help us a lot".

Facebook, which was No. 1 past year, dropped to No. 7 for 2019, going from a 4.6 rating to a 4.5 rating among US -based employees. The company has topped the list three out of 11 years.

Search giant Google came in eighth place in 2018, following a stronger performance the year prior (fifth). Google and Apple were the only other companies that have made the list each year since its inception.

Amid a nationwide shortage of pilots, Southwest is one airline that has raised salaries throughout recent years to attract more talent.

Employee reviews cited the company's culture and community events as pluses.

Google's overall rating fell from 4.6 to 4.4 over the year, with it too facing a year of unrest among employees, including worker protests over its work on the Pentagon's AI Project Maven and the global walkout over its handling of sexual harassment by top executives. It was the only utilities company to feature in the top 10. As the world gets sceptical about the impact of technology - WhatsApp fuelling misinformation in countries like India - the employees in companies like Facebook, Google, Amazon and Twitter have also started considering whether the impact they are making in the world is positive or not.
