Real name Daniel Hernandez, the rapper is facing the prospect of life imprisonment on charges around racketeering, firearm usage and his involvement with a violent USA gang.

Rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine was transferred to a new detention facility after he reportedly received death threats.

As reported earlier this week, 6ix9ine received a warning from the Federal Bureau of Investigation that his former Nine Trey crew members were planning to "super violate him".

6ix9ine and three former associates were arrested on Sunday night on six counts of racketeering, firearms, assault with a unsafe weapon and conspiracy murder charges through his involvement with NY gang the Nine Trey Gangster Bloods.

According to TMZ, 6ix9ine requested to be moved away from members of the Bloods and Crips gangs, following rumours that he was beaten up in jail.

Federal prosecutors released several images of Tekashi 6ix9ine that showed him at several locations when violent incidents occurred. However, his lawyer, Lance Lazzaro, told WABC that he was transferred to an undisclosed facility as a safety precaution.

"It read "Daniel Hernandez is completely innocent of all charges being brought against him", before describing the rapper as "An entertainer who portrays a "gangster image" to promote his music" insisting that this did not make him a member of an 'enterprise'".

The Gummo rapper recently pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct in Brooklyn Criminal Court in connection with a May traffic stop.
