Powerball jackpot victor, Robert Bailey, claims $350 Million

Harlem record Powerball jackpot winner revealed

The 67-year-old retired government employee came forward Wednesday to claim last month's winning Powerball ticket - the largest jackpot in in NY lottery history.

"A family member gave me the numbers over 25 years ago and I faithfully play them", Bailey said.

Rather than receiving the October 27 jackpot over 29 years, Robert Bailey opted to take the lump sum of $198.1 million, which is roughly $125 million after taxes, the New York State lottery announced.

"It was raining that day so I went to the deli to get out of the rain and I bought my ticket there", Robert Bailey said, referring to the West Harlem Deli where he purchased his lucky ticket, CBS News New York reported.

He says he will still continue to play the numbers despite having won the jackpot.

"I said to myself, 'These look like my numbers.' I tried to remain calm and sat down to watch some shows I had on my DVR".

"I'm still in somewhat of a shock but I'm happy also again", he said Wednesday, according to The New York Post.

"I plan to do the right thing with the money". "I didn't sleep the rest of the night", Mr Bailey said. "I'm going to ride this out".

The victor is Robert Bailey, who said he received the winning numbers over a quarter century ago.

He also plans to keep playing his numbers "until this train runs out".

Ultimately, though, he'd like to give back.

By the way, he said he won't stop playing the lottery. 'I still want to be me. I didn't notice the Powerball right away.

This is the second consecutive Powerball jackpot won in NY this year.

The most recent win came in September when a Staten Island man won the US$245.6 million (A$336 million) jackpot.

The chance of winning the Powerball jackpot is 1 in 292.2 million.
