Meg Ryan and John Mellencamp confirm their engagement via Instagram

The When Harry Met Sally star and rock veteran John Mellencamp have made their longtime romance official by becoming engaged.

Ryan's engagement news comes after she was pictured out and about flashing a diamond ring on that finger, fuelling rumours she was either about to tie the knot or had already walked down the aisle with Mellencamp.

Meg Ryan is ready to say "I do".

A rep for Mellencamp confirmed the engagement to ABC Radio.

Ryan has a son named Jack with Quaid, as well as a daughter, Daisy, whom she adopted after her divorce.
