The Ventura County Fire Department confirmed just after midnight that there had been reports of "multiple injuries" at the bar.

Police told the Los Angeles Times that at least 30 shots were fired at the Borderline Bar & Grill in Thousand Oaks, which is about 60km west of Los Angeles.

It's thought that a man opened fire at the bar with a semi-automatic gun at about 11.20pm.

U.S. fire department officials have reported multiple injuries in a shooting at a bar and dance hall in southern California.

Ventura County Sheriff's Office Captain Garo Kuredjian called the situation "active", saying there were at least six people injured inside the building.

The witness said the suspect had a handgun and then he also saw the smoke bombs and the guard being shot.

During a radio appearance in October, Jerry Jones also said the team had not rostered a No. 1 wide receiver in several years. He meant to sign a one-year contract this season, then work on a longer-term deal starting next season, the reports said.

One officer is reported to be injured, according to local media.

A trail of blood was visible on the street at the entrance of the venue. Information on the extent of the victims' injuries has not yet been released.

There were reports of more gunfire as officers responded.

Victims rant to a nearby petrol station to get medical help.

Witnesses said they had spoken to friends who escaped the shooting, which took place during a popular student night at the bar.

Authorities are still treating it as an active shooter scene.
