Donald Trump Slams CNN Reporter: ‘You Are A Rude, Terrible Person!’

White House,CNN reporter,CNN

Donald Trump laid into CNN's Jim Acosta at his first post-midterm press conference on Wednesday, with him telling the reporter he was unfit for his job.

Trump stepped away from the lectern for a a few seconds before returning to the microphone to take aim at Acosta again. It was this moment that was doctored in a video shared by the White House press secretary.

Journalists assigned to cover the White House apply for passes that allow them daily access to press areas in the West Wing.

White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders stood by her tweet of an apparently doctored video of CNN's Jim Acosta, manipulated to make it appear that he got physical with a White House press intern.

Mr Acosta called Ms Sanders' assertion that he placed his hands on the woman "a lie". President Trump has given the press more access than any President in history.

President Trump's midterm campaigning focused strongly on a "caravan" of migrants heading through Central America towards the U.S. He claimed it constitutes an imminent invasion and sent thousands of active-duty troops to the southern border with Mexico.

It was during this exchange the female staff member attempted to take the microphone from Mr Acosta.

His exchanges with CNN's Acosta and another reporter for the NBC network turned bitterly personal, unusual even for the adversarial nature of presidential press conferences.

Mr Trump told him: "CNN should be ashamed of itself having you work for them".

Dems on track to win control of House
At a news conference on Wednesday, Mr Trump said his tax returns were already under audit and therefore he would not release them. More women than ever were running, along with veterans and minorities, many of them motivated by revulsion over Trump.

"The most risky type of fake news and reporting and evidence is when you get into the fine details, the nuanced things that are shaped to present a certain viewpoint or decision or news a certain way", he said.

Beloved by some, his fans reportedly leave bourbon in his mailbox and he's often recognised in the street by supporters who thank him for standing up to President Trump.

But that question that I posed today was very timely, because just today, Patrick Casey, a leader of Identity Evropa, which is - which the Southern Poverty Law Center says is part of the alt-right and white nationalist movement, tweeted that he was at the White House today.

He took at a jab at "grandstanding" congressmen from his own party whom he said would have made it hard to get legislation through the House, had Republicans eked out a narrow win in the chamber. There was brief physical contact as she reached across him, and Acosta said "pardon me, mam" as he tried to concentrate on asking his question.

"When you report fake news, which CNN does a lot, you are the enemy of the people", Trump said. "You are a rude, bad person". "Mia Love gave me no love", he said. "Honestly, I know you have it written down, that's a racist question".

She went on to say that she, in general, doesn't like when men touch her without permission, but said what Acosta did was not assault.

"They are not only unsafe, they are disturbingly un-American".

In a statement issued Wednesday evening, CNN concurred, saying: "The White House announced tonight that it has revoked the press pass of CNN's Chief White House Correspondent Jim Acosta".
