Kim Davis loses Kentucky clerk re-election bid

Kim Davis clerk who refused to issue same-sex marriage licenses loses reelection in Kentucky

Ermold is a gay man who was denied a marriage license by Davis in 2015.

A federal court judge declared Davis in contempt of court for refusing to issue the licenses and not allowing her six deputy clerks to issue them in her place.

Elwood Caudill Jr. has beaten Kim Davis in the race to be the Rowan County Clerk.

Kim Davis, the law clerk who was jailed in 2015 for refusing to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples, just lost her re-election bid to her Democratic rival on Tuesday.

Jets' Sam Darnold on struggles: 'Quite frankly, I'm just playing stupid'
We had questions and you didn't give us any answers. "I don't think it's anything about the plays that were called". Interceptions aren't a new problem — Darnold came into the game tied for the National Football League lead with 10.

A small government office that made national headlines now has a new leader.

After his loss, Ermold declined to throw his support behind Caudill, calling him a homophobe.

Davis made global headlines when she said her Christian faith prevented her from granting licenses to gay couples after the U.S. Supreme Court legalized marriage equality in 2015, for which she was briefly sent to jail.

This isn't the first time Davis and Caudill have campaigned against each other. Davis was a Democrat before switching her party affiliation shortly after she refused to issue same-sex marriage licenses.
