7-Eleven introduces mobile checkout

"Frictionless experiences are the future, and digital payments are key to such experiences", said Gurmeet Singh, chief digital officer and chief innovation officer at 7-Eleven.

"Whether it be with cash or card at the POS, the digital payments - Apple Pay, Google Pay, Samsung Pay - or skipping the line with Scan & Pay, we are enabling our customers to control their in-store experience". It also connects with the 7Rewards loyalty program, so customers can find out about deals and promotions. The only products banned from cashier-less check-out are hot foods, lottery tickets, alcohol and tobacco. How can we make every 7-Eleven a breeze?

USA convenience retail brand 7-Eleven is set to pilot a new Scan & Pay feature that will enable customers to browse and shop at branches without having to check out with a cashier.

Supermarkets have traditionally been the leaders in self-scanning solutions, but convenience stores have been unexplored territory - until now.

Georgia Marching Band Displays Racial Slur During Performance
The large horn section has instrument covers that are used to spell out the school's team and mascot known as the Broncos. According to the Gwinnett Daily Post , members use them in the stands but take them off on the field.

Based in Irving, Texas, 7-Eleven operates, franchises or licenses more than 67,000 c-stores in 17 countries, including 11,800 in North America. More than 60 percent of stores are franchised.

7-Eleven is joining the high-tech store race with its latest convenience perk for customers: cashierless "scan-and-go" checkout technology. "We wanted to explore consumers' adoption of the technology: How do people learn about it?" The first Amazon Go debuted at the company's Seattle headquarters in 2016 but opened to the public this past January. I don't need to involve another set of technology if I can solve the speed issue.

Interestingly, the company's test found that once consumers get used to using the mobile scan and pay service, they are using it even during off-peak hours when there's no lines, Singh said. According to 7-Eleven, customers gave the feature a high rating, with most customers rating it a 4.8 out of 5 for convenience.
