Idris Elba named People Magazine's 'Sexiest Man Alive'

Elba 46 is best known for his roles television shows The Wire and Luther

He's now planning a wedding to model Sabrina Dhowre, 29, who he proposed to in February.

London-born Elba, 46, is People's 33rd sexiest man alive and joins previous winners including Mel Gibson, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and David Beckham. The actor said his parents were strict and he got picked on often while attending an all-boys school despite playing an array of sports including football, basketball, cricket, hockey and rugby.

"I was very tall and skinny", says the 6'3" Elba.

The star was preceded by Blake Shelton who won last year's coveted title much to the surprise of many.

Elba in August stoked the rumours that he was set to become the first black actor to play Bond when he posted a cryptic message on Twitter using one of the character's best-known lines - "My name's Elba, Idris Elba".

"But again, as soon as I could grow a mustache, I was the coolest kid on the block", he added. "Grew a mustache, had some muscles, bonkers." he told People magazine. But picking the happiest moment of his life is easy.

Demi Lovato Focusing on Sobriety Post-Rehab
Demi's visit to LA comes after it was reported that she is considering not returning to the Southern California city permanently. Lovato, 26, returned to Los Angeles several days ago and is "doing well so far", according to People .

He described himself as a "super doting" dad to his 16-year-old daughter and 4-year-old son.

He shared: "It's important to have eye contact and empathy".

"I love being confident, but also I know when to rein it in and just stay humble and grounded", he said.

For now, the actor strives to live with as few regrets as possible.

The star appears on the entertainment magazine's most recent cover after being given their annual Sexiest Man title, which was once held by other notably sexy men, including the likes of Bradley Cooper, George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Denzel Washington, Harrison Ford, and Sean Connery. 'I think everyone should adopt the philosophy that tomorrow is not promised so just go for it today, man. We're just disappointed Shelton didn't fly out to London to hand him a "Sexiest Man Alive" crown or something.
