LONDON-The crew of a Japan Airlines flight was travelling by bus to Heathrow Airport here when the bus driver had a suspicion that there was something wrong with the co-pilot.

Results from the breathalyzer test showed he had 189 mg of alcohol per 100ml of blood in his system.

Japan Airlines Co. has apologized after one of its co-pilots was arrested in London for failing an alcohol test before flying on a London-Tokyo flight.

Tests found the 42-year-old first officer had 189 milligrams of alcohol per 100 milliliters of blood in his system, nearly 10 times the 20 milligrams limit for a pilot.

The legal limit for pilots is 20 mg, while drivers in England, Wales and Northern Ireland are allowed as much as 80 mg.

"We will implement immediate actions to prevent any future occurrence and to regain our customer's trust".
