European Open: Britain's Kyle Edmund seals maiden title

Kyle Edmund is into the last four in Antwerp where he will face Richard Gasquet

This week at the European Open though, Edmund set himself up for yet another shot at a win.

Edmund, 23, struggled with the occasion in his first ATP final in Marrakech earlier this season.

Edmund won 6-3 6-4 on Saturday to book his place in the final against France's Gael Monfils.

Neither player could convert either of the two break points they had in the final set and another tie-break always looked to be on the cards.

The Briton saved five break points and broke Gasquet twice in their semifinal.

Latvia's Gulbis is the first qualifier to advance to the last four in Stockholm since Matthias Bachinger did so in 2014 before losing to Tomas Berdych.

The third seed needed only 54 minutes to complete victory.

Monfils defeated Argentinian Diego Schwartzman by the same scoreline to make sure of his place in the final of the Belgium tournament.

Fognini won the first set 7-5 and was 2-1 up in the second when opponent Chung Hyeon retired with a foot injury.

There was a home victor at the Kremlin Cup as the Russian Karen Khachanov defeated France's Adrian Mannarino 6-2, 6-2 in less than an hour to claim his third ATP Tour crown.

In the day's other quarter-finals, Andreas Seppi and Adrian Mannarino enjoyed straight-sets wins over Filip Krajinovic and Egor Gerasimov respectively.
