Trump Claims, Baselessly, That 'Criminals,' 'Unknown Middle Easterners' Part of Caravan

Honduran migrants heading in a caravan to the US help a man holding a child get down to the Suchiate River from the Guatemala Mexico international border bridge in Ciudad Hidalgo Chiapas state Mexico

Meanwhile, American flags were burned in Honduras in support of the caravan while U.S. President Donald Trump followed through on a threat and cut aid to Central American countries.

A Honduran migrant boy taking part in a caravan heading to the USA, cries as he waits on the Guatemala-Mexico border bridge, in Ciudad Tecun Uman, Guatemala, on October 20, 2018.

He has threatened to stop giving aid to countries like Honduras and Guatemala, where numerous migrants have come from. According to the two leaders, over 2,000 people have returned home despite reports claiming the caravan has expanded to at least 5,000 migrants as of Monday.

Central American migrants walk along the highway near the border with Guatemala, as they continue their journey trying to reach the US, in Tapachula, Mexico Oct. 21, 2018.

"Every time you see a Caravan, or people illegally coming, or attempting to come, into our Country illegally, think of and blame the Democrats for not giving us the votes to change out pathetic Immigration Laws!" he tweeted.

Keeping together for strength and safety in numbers, some huddled under a metal roof in the city's main plaza Sunday night.

The President tweeted Monday that he'd spoken to the leaders of several central American nations, including Honduras, where the current "migrant caravans" originate, and informed them that the United States could reconsider worldwide financial aid programs aimed at central America if the outflow does not abate.

Trump scolded for praising Republican who slammed reporter
He had also agreed to pay $50,000 to the Committee to Protect Journalists, a non-profit, as part of settling civil claims with Mr. Trump went on to recount how he heard about the assault while he was in Rome after already having endorsed Gianforte.

Thousands of Central American migrants hoping to reach the USA were deciding Monday whether to rest in a southern Mexico town or resume their arduous walk through Mexico as President Donald Trump rained more threats on their governments.

Trump added, in a misspelled tweet: "I have alerted Border Patrol and Military that this is a National Emergy". Others lay exhausted in the open air, with only thin sheets of plastic to protect them from ground soggy from an intense Sunday evening shower.

After stopping a group of migrants who tried to enter Mexico on Friday, Mexican authorities said they would willingly permit migrants to enter the country if they had the required documents and visas or were applying for asylum. Many migrants, especially children, are suffering in the hot and humid weather, as they look for sources of food and water.

"In this way we confront the phenomenon of migration, because he who leaves his town does not leave for pleasure but out of necessity", said Lopez Obrador, who takes office December 1.

Civil defence officials for Mexico's southern state of Chiapas said they had offered to take the migrants by bus to a shelter set up by immigration officials about seven kilometres outside Tapachula, but the migrants refused, fearing that once they boarded the buses they would be deported.

"We're going to make it, we're going to keep moving so long as they don't stop us", said Honduran Jaffe Borjas, 17, marching alongside a childhood friend at the head of the column that stretched far down the highway to the horizon. Anyone who makes it to the USA will be immediately deportable.
