'Luke Cage' Star Mike Colter Breaks Silence On Series Cancellation

Streaming now on Netflix, Marvel's Luke Cage Season 2 stars Mike Colter, Simone Missick, Alfre Woodard, Theo Rossi, Mustafa Shakir, Gabrielle Dennis, Rosario Dawson and Reg E. Cathey.

Unfortunately, Marvel's Luke Cage will not return for a third season. "We must fight to save our hero of Harlem as he fights for us". It is unclear if those creative differences were between the showrunner Cheo Hodari Coker and Netflix, or between Netflix and Marvel.

"A lot memories. A lot of individual thank-you calls to make", Coker tweeted. "Everyone at Marvel Television and Netflix is grateful to the dedicated showrunner, writers, cast and crew who brought Harlem's Hero to life for the past two seasons, and to all the fans who have supported the series". The decision also comes on the heels of Disney getting ready to launch its own streaming service which is expected to have a number of Marvel Cinematic Universe tie-in shows including rumored shows involving Loki and Scarlet Witch. The outlet notes that things went "distinctly south" around Wednesday, October 17 - just 48 hours before the streamer canceled the show. Along with Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, and The Punisher, Cage helped protect the streets of NY at a much smaller level than the Avengers.

Saudi Arrests in Journalist’s Death ‘Good First Step,’ Says Trump
He said he believes France, Germany and the United Kingdom will join with the U.S. to respond "in an appropriate way". When the media reported a few days later that he had been killed there, they called the accusations "baseless".

So where to from here for these series though?

First it was "Iron Fist". The news came one week after it pulled the plug on its sister show, Marvel's Iron Fist.

Netflix's "Luke Cage" has faded to black for the worst reason ever. Netflix was the ideal venue for their darker, more violent offerings, and they won't be brought in-house to Disney without some serious nerfing. I was into #LukeCage which played like a modern Syfy allegory.
