12 sailors injured in carrier helo crash

File There were no details on how many people were injured when the MH-60 Seahawk crashed shortly after take-off on Friday morning

Flight operations aboard the aircraft carrier Ronald Reagan are back in full swing Friday following a helicopter crash on the ship's flight deck.

The MH-60 Seahawk hit the flight deck of the USS Ronald Reagan shortly after takeoff around 9 a.m., according to a statement released by the Navy's Seventh Fleet.

The Reagan was conducting routine operations at the time of the crash.

"While some personnel will be medically evacuated ashore, none of the injuries is life-threatening", the United States 7th Fleet said in a statement.

In May 2017, the USS Ronald Reagan began sea trials in the Pacific before replacing the USS Carl Vinson near the Korean Peninsula. "While some personnel will be medically evacuated ashore, none of the injuries is life-threatening".

There were four members on the aircraft at the time, but Navy officials did not immediately say whether they were among the injured.

The Navy did not give details on any damage to the helicopter or the aircraft carrier.

The cause of the mishap is under investigation.

The carrier participated in the worldwide naval review hosted off the South Korean island of Jeju last week. Ronald Reagan remains fully mission capable and has resumed flight operations, said the Navy.
