Gianforte plead guilty to a charge of misdemeanor assault of Ben Jacobs, political reporter for The Guardian, as he covered a Montana special election in May 2017.

"You understand that, never".

"Any guy that can do a body slam - he's my kind of guy", Trump said to cheers and laughter from the crowd. Even though the incident drew considerable attention, Gianforte defeated his Democratic opponent the next day.

Fox News reporters who witnessed the attack later recalled: "Gianforte grabbed Jacobs by the neck with both hands and slammed him into the ground behind him".

Trump said Thursday "it certainly looks" like Khashoggi is dead. "I think it might help him, and it did", Trump said to applause from the 4,000 rally attendees. I know Montana pretty well.

President President Donald Trump arrives as the sun sets to speak at a campaign rally at Minuteman Aviation Hangar, October 18, 2018, in Missoula, Montana. "To celebrate an attack on a journalist who was simply doing his job is an attack on the First Amendment by someone who has taken an oath to defend it".

"Not just once but twice tonight the president is making jokes about assaulting reporters while the whole world is demanding answers about the murder of a journalist who died in the most gruesome and vicious way possible", Acosta said.

Riyadh is suspected of murdering Khashoggi, a Washington Post contributor and USA permanent resident whose writings have been critical of powerful Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
