The Walking Dead ratings plummet to series low

Walking Dead Season 9 Ratings Continue to Plummet as Series Hits New Low

The show's previous low came in the first season where it experienced 2.4 in the key demo.

According to Variety, the episode's Live+Same Day ratings drew a score of 2.0 in the 18-49 demographic, the lowest it's ever been for the hit zombie series.

The Walking Dead was able to get more eyes on it then the ALCS game but couldn't pull in a bigger audience than Sunday Night Football.

Will Carl's Dream Become Rick's Downfall? That is also very close to the show's current low in total viewers, which is 4.7 million, also set during Season 1.

Burger King debuts green ‘nightmare’ cheeseburger with beef and chicken for Halloween
That's what the Burger King brand set out to prove with an unusual research study on its latest Halloween burger , the Nightmare King.

Still, it's hard not to look at this as anything but a sign that the show is truly flagging, particularly after last season's steep decline in viewers (the show averaged less than 8 million viewers in Season 8) and the low numbers brought in by the season premiere a little more than a week ago.

New showrunner Angela Kang proved there's still life in The Walking Dead storywise with the first two episodes of Season 9, but there's no escaping the network numbers. It was down approximately 50% in the key demo [2.5 million] and 47% in total viewers [6.08 million] compared to the season eight opener.

A recent Reddit AMA was hosted by Ian Howe, CEO of Skybound Games, and Telltale Games's Kent Mudle, who is the Creative Director for The Walking Dead: The Final Season.

The Walking Dead continues this Sunday in the U.S. on AMC and follows a day later on FOX UK. Stay tuned if the ratings sink lower, but also stay tuned to The Walking Dead, AMC hopes.
