Texas woman who left toddler alone could face charges

Child abandoned

The surveillance video shows the woman running to the front door of the Houston-area home with the boy, ringing the doorbell and then running off to her vehicle.

She then rang the doorbell, knocked on the door and sprinted away, leaving the little boy standing clueless in front of the door.

Originally, the identity of the woman and child were unknown.

Deputies who responded to the call went door-to-door looking for someone who might know the boy, Lt. Scott Spencer said in a recorded press conference.

A woman is facing a child abandonment charge after she was caught on camera leaving a two-year-old boy on the doorstep of a Texas home this past Wednesday night.

The child's father told News4Jax sister station KPRC-TV that the woman seen in the video is a family friend who meant to drop the boy off at home, but mistakenly left him at the wrong house.

The Islamist terrorists have already murdered a number of hostages, and have warned of daily executions to come, the Russian President said.

"I was gut-wrenched. It was very alarming and very disturbing, and my heart was hurting for that child", Spencer told reporters, recalling how he felt upon initially reviewing the surveillance recording.

The incident was recorded on surveillance video.

It wasn't until the next day that they found the boy's father, who lived next door to the home where the child was abandoned. He hadn't been home when police first canvased the area.

Sheriff's deputies later said that they had identified her, but refused to share the woman's name after confirming that she had indeed been a victim of domestic violence and sexual abuse. The father ultimately left the house for the evening, assuming that the mother had changed her mind about the drop-off. The text said a friend would bring the toddler to his house on Wednesday in the early afternoon. "Right now we are ecstatic that the child's father has been found and detectives are working with child protective services to reunite the child with the father and the family".

The woman approaches the door holding the toddler by the arm. Child abandonment is a third-degree felony.

Spencer says authorities have identified the woman in the video and that an investigation is underway, though she hasn't been charged. The suspect is observed running toward the front door of the residence while lifting the child in the air by one arm. The entire incident lasted 23 seconds. She also left two bags behind.
