Lonzo Ball can't shake off rust in Lakers' regular season opener

LeBron-Led Lakers Gear Up for Season Opener

Brandon Ingram was the No. 2 Overall selection in the 2016 NBA Draft by the Los Angeles Lakers and he isn't going any where any time soon as the Lakers have exercised their team option on the Duke Basketball product for the 2019-20 season.

The Lakers begin their season on the road against the Portland Trail Blazers on Thursday night at 10:30 pm ET on TNT, before returning back in L.A. for the home opener against the Houston Rockets on Saturday night on ESPN.

It was the first time James played within the competitive Western Conference, and called for patience as his new teammates learn to play together.

"I'll tell you, when Jeanie Buss came to me and said: 'I really want to go after [LeBron],' I said: 'Jeanie, he's not coming here until you clean up this s- here.'" Bryant told The Undefeated, when asked how involved he was in securing the James deal.

However, WEF noted the corelation between protectionist policies of the Trump administration and US' top position on the index. Nearly 30 points and 80 ranks separate the United States from Argentina, the worst performing economy of the group.

James electrified the Portland crowd with back-to-back monster slams for his first points as a Laker, but ultimately he couldn't prevent them from dropping their 16th straight game to Portland dating back to March 2014. He added a follow-up 19 seconds later with a one-handed effort.

But despite all the early promise, Portland still managed to ruin the party.

Damian Lillard scored 28 points for Portland and Nik Stauskas matched his career high with 24, on his debut. "I liked the way we shared the ball as well", James said. "To just figure out one another, figure out what we are good at, figure out what we are not so good at, how we can be better at it".
