Afghanistans Zazai smashes six sixes in an over

Colin Munro

Levelling the record set by Indian batsman Yuvraj Singh, Zazai hit 50 in mere 12 balls for his team Kabul Zwanan against Balkh Legends in the Afghanistan Premier League at Sharjah Cricket Stadium.

Gayle had hammered 80 off 48 balls for Balkh Legends and his innings included as many as 10 sixes. When Kabul Zwanan begun the reply innings, opener Hazratullah Zazai clubbed six sixes in an over, thundering the ground.

Kabul raced to 70 for no loss in 4 overs thanks to Zazai's jaw-dropping display of cricket and the Afghanistan global completed his fifty in twelve balls, equalling the record for the fastest half-century in T20 cricket shared by Chris Gayle himself and India's Yuvraj Singh. The APL T20 official Twitter handle shared the video of Zazai hitting those six sixes. "I am thankful to Almighty Allah for helping me score the 12-ball fifty", Hazratullah said after the game.

Yuvraj had hit six sixes off a Stuart Broad over to move to a 12-ball half-century in the inaugural T20I World Cup in 2007. As he watched Hazratullah smash his way to the half-century, Gayle would surely have been impressed by the man who looks up to him.

MLB says Astros cheating allegations not major
An Astros spokesman responded to several emails about the incident, but did not deny any of the specific details provided. Asked if he thought anything untoward was going on at Fenway Park during Games 1 and 2, Cora said, "No, I don't".

"It was a surreal moment for me to perform in front of my idol (Gayle)", said Zazai, who has played two one-day internationals and three T20 matches for Afghanistan.

Defending 244, the Balkh posted a 21-run win over Kabul after restricting them to 223/7 in stipulated 20 overs. "It's a very enjoyable moment for me that my name is now linked to so many big names of the game, the real legends".

The record for the fastest T20 half-century was jointly held by Yuvraj Singh and Chris Gayle, who was opening for the Legends in the match.
