No money: Bulgaria for the third time refused to participate in "Eurovision"

Нет денег Болгария в третий раз отказалась от участия в Евровидении

SBS has announced the first ever Australian decider will be held at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre over two nights in February, with the public able to vote on which song and artist will represent our country at the worldwide song contest on in Tel Aviv in May.

Eurovision 2019 marks Australia's fifth appearance at the music competition, with Jessica Mauboy representing the country in this year's contest final in Lisbon.

Eurovision is a competition for (mostly) European countries in which both an expert jur and a popular vote decide which country's song ends up on top.

The broadcaster is hosting a national contest with its production partner Blink TV, dubbed "Eurovision - Australia Decides", which will involve a series of live performances on the Gold Coast in February.

From there, it's up to the Australian public and a Jury to decide Australia's act to take the stage at the 64th Eurovision Song Contest to compete for Eurovision glory.

Myf Warhurst said song competitions had previously unearthed great talents like Silverchair.

Speaking to SBS on Sunday, the 28-year-old Take Me Out host said: 'I can't wait to be part of the first ever Eurovision selection show in the Southern Hemisphere and find the next Aussie classic.

The contest will be hosted by our current Eurovision hosts, Joel Creasey and Myf Warhurst. We look forward to welcoming them back in the future.

As Eurovision is first and foremost a song competition, SBS is calling on songwriters across the country to "submit an original composition for consideration" before November 4th.

"It's over to you Australia - let's give Europe our best!"
