'Fantastic Beasts: Crimes of Grindelwald' Releases New Stills

Albus Dumbledore being gay- Fantastical beasts

Like it or not, Johnny Depp is starring in the upcoming Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, and he is not backing down from the vocal Harry Potter loyalists who protested his continued casting in light of domestic abuse allegations from ex-wife Amber Heard.

It's an interesting interview all around; Depp also talks about one of the little-known inspirations behind Captain Jack Sparrow: heat madness. "The script is labyrinthian", says lead actor Eddie Redmayne, who plays the sensitive Magizoologist Newt Scamander.

Depp can next be seen in Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, in theaters on November 16, 2018.

"It was fantastic. It came out of nowhere".

In an interview with Collider on Tuesday, he explained: 'The possibilities in that world are wide open, so you can really try anything. Go nuts. I ain't going to get into a pissing contest with someone about it. Spit out what you need to spit out, my attorneys will take care of the rest. J.K. said something I did not expect to hear because obviously her detail to her characters and those wizarding worlds is astonishing. I spoke to a few producers and the director and to J.K. and had long conversations basically about the Grindelwald character. I came in and it all seemed to work out.

According to the lore of Harry Potter, the character of Grindelwald is eventually beaten by a young Albus Dumbledore during the heyday of World War II.

Earlier this week the actor confirmed he would be taking on the role again n Fantastic Beasts 3 with production expected to commence in "the middle of next year". They're joined by Claudia Kim, Zoe Kravitz, Callum Turner, with Jude Law as Dumbledore and Johnny Depp as the titular Grindelwald. "However, around the time of filming his cameo in the first movie, stories had appeared in the press that deeply concerned me and everyone most closely involved in the franchise", Rowling said in a statement to ET at the time. However, as he promised he would, Grindelwald has made a dramatic escape and has been gathering more followers to his cause-elevating wizards above all non-magical beings. Lines are drawn as love and loyalty are tested, even among the truest friends and family, in an increasingly divided world.
