Saha chastises Pogba for ‘attack comments

Manchester United's French midfielder Paul Pogba reacts as he leaves the pitch after the English Premier League football match between Manchester United and Wolverhampton Wanderers at Old Trafford in Manchester north west England

Mourinho's public confirmation that he had erased Pogba from his list of vice-captains highlighted the discord between the United boss and his club record signing, but the midfielder has now offered up what will be viewed as his first public comments on leadership. "I'd like to do that".

"You don't have to be captain in order to speak, a leader is not someone who has the armband".

"Sometimes dreams come true, but compared to a few years ago it would cost Juve a lot more to buy Pogba now", he said.

Ashley Young captained United in Antonio Valencia's absence against Newcastle United last weekend - a game in which Pogba was awarded the Man of the Match accolade.

Prior to the World Cup, Pogba had stated his ambition of stepping up his role within the France squad, and he was credited by teammates with having given a number of inspirational dressing room speeches during Les Bleus' summer triumph. "I would never say it's me, it's the squad who put me in that position, who gave me the freedom to express myself".

Michael Essien tips Chelsea for English Premier League title
They will have their moments, but I thought we defended them brilliant - apart from the penalty and one or two situations, where we needed Alisson with a really good save.

Pogba has made no references to United in his media comments this week, but a former France World Cup victor has suggested he has been a little too vocal in his public comments this season.

"Not only did the World Cup victor save United against Newcastle, he might have saved Mourinho's job for now".

Deschamps suggested that the prospect of Pogba once again quitting United for Juventus was not so far-fetched. I spoke with Hugo (Lloris), Blaise (Matuidi), (Raphael) Varane, to say that this World Cup we really had to put everything in place to win it.

"I couldn't have done it without them. But I hope with all my heart that it's one of the four, because there is [also] NG [N'Golo Kante]".
