Google Pixel 3 to launch on November 2nd in France, retailer claims

But it was a odd call-out, since Google already puts cameras in your home through the Pixel phones and Nest Cam home-security cameras.

You can pre-order the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL direct from the Google Store right now; the Pixel 3 starts at $799, the Pixel 3 XL at $899.

So what's new with the Pixel 3 XL?

Not only do these phones run the purest Android, devoid of third-party modifications as Google steers both the hardware and software completely, but the design language of the new phone mimics the iPhone X series, with a larger display that wraps around the front-facing camera.

If you're more into self-portraits, there's another feature called Photobooth. The Core i5/8GB RAM/128GB storage Pixel Slate will burn a $999 hole in your wallet. Of course, security has been a component of such devices before, but Google doesn't often call it out so bluntly. Knowing that, we're even more eager to find out how the Pixel 3 XL compares. So they can direct stereo sound out toward you, instead of out toward the walls or the floor. The two phones will once again be separated by screen size, with the smaller one likely getting a 5.5-inch display and the larger one possibly getting a 6.7-inch one, when accounting for the space around the notch. What's important is that the ppi - pixels per inch - remains high so that the display is capable of showing fine details. The phones also offer wireless charging. Like the Home Hub and Echo Show, you can also watch cooking videos through various services, play music from streaming services, and even blind the device using the included camera cover or the mute button on top of the Portal. As we've seen with the new iPhones, it's possible to adjust background blur after taking a shot, and there are plenty of other features too.

That's an inevitable side effect of Google's launch cycle and while Californian rival Apple put out its iPhone XS with new hardware, Google's new phones are a generation behind, relatively speaking.

What Google, Amazon, and Apple are able to do, which nearly no other company can, is combine enough products and services that a standalone hub starts to make sense on its own, rather than be just an additional expense for convenience.

The key aim of this, as you might expect from the "Hub" part of it's name, is to serve as a focal point for other devices in your house. That screen gives Google Assistant another way to relay information to you, one that doesn't require you to be constantly barking commands. It also highlighted Google's product range from hardware to software, including free YouTube service subscriptions that come with all three products for at least a few months.

RUMOR: Sources Reporting that Microsoft May Be Buying Obsidian Entertainment
If the rumors are true, it would mean that one of the most well-respected RPG developers would come under the banner of Microsoft. Obsidian's relationship with Microsoft doesn't leave much in the way of company friendship.

There is still a single rear camera on both phones. When you take a photo, it analyses the images just before and just after you press the shutter, looking for those where everyone is smiling, with eyes open, and facing the camera. It's not a new technology in reality as many recommend the best photo - but we can't wait to try it out in the real world.

Another addition is the ability to change the "aperture" in portrait shots.

But unlike its competitors, Google said its Home Hub, priced at $149, does not have a video conferencing camera. This will let you pinch zoom to a wider view, so you can get everything into the frame.

The front cameras are dual 8MP sensors.

Google Assistant, the signature virtual helper feature on the Pixel, was available in six languages a year ago and now supports 16. But Android Pie and subsequent changes within Google core apps show that Android as an ecosystem continues to grow in strength.

The Pixel 3 XL starts at $1,129 CAD for the 64GB and $1,259 for the 128GB.

As you can see above, Google envisions Pixel Slate owners treating the device more like Microsoft's Surface Pro and Apple's iPad Pro devices - powerful, laptop-like handhelds that easily convert into tablets.
