De Blasio dismisses homeless activist who interrupts his workout

Mayor de Blasio delivers remarks at the Opening Plenary of the World Economic Forum's Sustainable Development Impact Summit in Midtown Manhattan on Monday

Mayor de Blasio abruptly ended his daily exercise session at the Park Slope Y when confronted by a homeless activist - admonishing her, "I'm in the middle of doing my workout", according to a video posted online Friday.

Adesegun had arrived at the Ninth Street Y with a dozen other VOCAL-NY activists to advocate for the homeless folk of New York City.

Vocal-NY is requesting that the mayor double the number of units available for homeless people in affordable housing apartments.

"I'm in the middle of doing my workout, I can't do this now", the mayor responded. "I can't do this now".

The video then shows De Blasio's security officers stepping in front of the woman as the Democratic mayor gets up and walks away, cell phone in hand.

The Mayor's office did not comment after the confrontation.

Debut of SpaceX, Boeing crew capsules off until next year
For the SpaceX mission, the Falcon 9 rocket will be used for the launch with a Crew Dragon capsule attached to the top. It should be noted that this will be the first ever manned flight of SpaceX to the worldwide space station.

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio is catching heat over an interaction with a homeless activist in which he told the woman he couldn't talk to her because he was working out.

Advocates for the city's homeless population argue that even these income requirements are too high.

Coalition for the Homeless policy director Giselle Routhier told Park Slope Patch that while the program has added more than 300,000 units, only 5 percent were designated for homeless New Yorkers.

"I am 72 years old and have been homeless for three years, but he made it clear that his morning workout was more important to him", Flowers Adesegun said of the mayor in a statement posted on Twitter by Vocal-NY. "Every time we ask him to do more for homeless New Yorkers, he changes the subject to prevention and the economy - but am I just supposed to stay homeless?"
