9 arrested for beating Bihar schoolgirls who resisted sex harassment

Violence against women

Bihar Education Minister Krishna Nandan Prasad Verma said that serious action would be taken. A report in the Hindu said that the girls were harassed by boys from the neighbouring village, who reportedly passed vulgar comments and wrote obscene words on the school compound. "To avoid such incidents in future, the department will appoint female constable and security personnel in girls' schools", he told The Times of India. Girls used to rub it off. When the boys refused and misbehaved with them, the girls beat them up in self-defense. "Nearly 15 minutes later, these boys returned in a huge number with their guardians and other locals, including women, who chased and thrashed the girls and the teachers with sticks and threw stones on them".

The girls - aged 12 to 16 - were admitted to a local hospital. The police have two people in connection with the case. "People involved have been identified and an FIR has been registered culprits will soon be arrested", Darbhanga zonal IG said.

Congress's Ranjeeta Ranjan, who is the Parliament member from Supaul, visited the girls in the hospital. This harassment of the girls has been happening for long, why did it take so long?

One of the students said the boys barged into the playground and started scribbling vulgar graffiti on the walls, which led to a confrontation.

McConnell: Kavanaugh fight will help Republicans in November
As we noted over the weekend, the deed is done and Judge Brett Kavanaugh is now Associate Justice Brett Kavanaugh . Kavanaugh was confirmed by the Senate on Saturday in a largely party line vote.

We hope the miscreants are caught and justified punishment is served to them. "They were kicked and beaten with canes".

Nitish Kumar government, which is facing flak over rising cases of crime against women, was in for another setback after a group of girl students was beaten up for resisting eve-teasing and sexual harassment in Bihar's Supaul district.

The issue has snowballed into a political controversy as Opposition leader Tejashwi Yadav on Sunday blamed the state government-led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for its failure in maintaining law and order in Bihar.

Taking to Twitter, he said, "When administrator is selfish, citizens' life becomes a curse!"
