Shirtless dad, son arrested for gunning down neighbor in trash fight

John Miller left and his son Michael Miller right were charged with murder after their neighbor Aaron Howard was fatally shot on Sept. 1

Johnnie, 67, and Michael Miller, 31, have been charged with murder in the September 1 shooting of Aaron Howard as part of an ongoing feud, reported KTXS-TV.

They then placed their guns at the heads of Box and Howard's brother, respectively, and ordered them to stay put.

John and Michael Miller have both been charged with first-degree murder after Howard's fiancee caught the two on camera opening fire on Howard.

Her video captured the sound of the pistol fire but not any images of Johnnie Miller shooting.

The dispute began between John Miller and Howard, at which point Michael Miller allegedly went inside to retrieve a shotgun. Box noted that Howard's nieces and nephews had been with them in the backyard. Following that, Box said, John Miller pulled "a pistol out of his shorts".

Footage shows the both John and Michael Miller holding firearms. Howard's brother has handed him a baseball bat by this time, but he never swung it, his wife said.

'Hey, did you hear him say he's going to kill me?' Howard says to Box as she's filming.

Box and Howard had thrown the mattress in the dumpster a couple days earlier, she said.

Box starts screaming, "No, no, Aaron!" after her husband is shot in the chest and head. "You pulled a gun in front of my kids over. a mattress".

The argument becomes even more heated as both sides make threats against the other reported Abilene Reporter News, as John Miller continues to tell Howard to 'back off'.

"If you come within three foot of me I'm gonna shoot you", the father says.

Box said Howard battled mental illness his entire life, but was getting help for a condition called IED, otherwise known as Intermittent Explosive Disorder, before he was killed.

Taylor County District Attorney Jim Hicks told KTXS: "Video evidence like this is always graphic and very hard to watch".

Box has since moved from the home from her deceased fiancee's home.
