Russian Federation plotted sneaking Julian Assange out of Ecuadorian Embassy in London

Wiki Leaks founder Julian Assange

The plan involved giving Assange diplomatic records and smuggling Assange out of the embassy in London on Christmas Eve in 2017.

On Friday, it was revealed that Russian officials also deliberated over whether to help Mr Assange escape the embassy.

Details emerged about the incident through a letter from the Ecuadorian Foreign Ministry to a legislator. According to the letter, Quito abandoned its idea to relocate the whistleblower to Moscow after the UK Foreign Office refused to recognize Assange's special status, or any privileges and immunities awarded under the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations. Since then, Assange has remained on the premises of the Ecuadoran embassy.

"Special designation" refers to the Ecuadorean president's right to name political allies to a fixed number of diplomatic posts even if they are not career diplomats. "It is worth noting that attempts to picture Ecuadorian diplomats' meetings at the Russian embassy in the light of conspiracy theories do not stand up to criticism", the ministry stressed.

Citing at least four, traditionally anonymous, sources, the Guardian wrote that Moscow was plotting to smuggle Assange out of London on Christmas eve previous year, but dropped the plan because it was "deemed too risky".

Brett Kavanaugh accuser offers to testify to Senate
Kavanaugh's nomination has been thrown into doubt by Ford's allegations that he sexually assaulted her when they were teens. Yesterday Ford, through her lawyers, offered to appear next week - after a days-long standoff with committee Chairman Sen.

Assange would not be at risk of extradition to the United States if he was in Russian Federation.

He stated he did not come into possession of the emails from Russian Federation, but did not deny they could have been handed to him by a third party.

The aborted effort suggests Ecuadorean President Lenin Moreno had engaged Moscow to resolve the situation of Assange, who has been holed up in the Ecuadorean embassy for six years to avoid arrest by British authorities on charges of skipping bail. "Look at what Google and Baidu and Tencent and Amazon and Facebook are doing", Assange began."They are basically open-cut harvesting the knowledge of humankind as we express it, when we communicate with each other, this classical model, which people in academia call "surveillance capitalism" has changed now".

Among those documents is a December 4 letter from Assange in which he renounced his request for political asylum from Ecuador in preparation to become an Ecuadorean diplomat.

Vintimilla, who discussed some of the documents during a Thursday press conference, said Assange should lose his citizenship as a result of that letter.
