Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi has announced that it will launch a next-generation infotainment system in 2021, co-developed with tech giant Google.

For that, both Android and Google's cloud services will be called upon.

The displays will offer better integration of Google's maps, app store and voice-activated assistant from auto dashboards, and they'll start appearing in 2021. By the end of 2022, Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi aim to have twelve new zero-emission electric vehicles on the road.

The brands are looking at cost for the system, and there likely will be a monthly fee.

Zablit said the agreement was just one of several steps in a "collaborative effort we will undertake with Google".
