Google upgrades its USB-C to 3.5mm adaptor

Now, a new report from Android Police states that Google has quietly updated the audio dongle and is also bringing in a few changes.

For those still running around with wired headphones regularly, the improved battery life could be a much welcomed change.

Since ditching the port on the Pixel 2, Google has been selling its own USB-C to 3.5mm adapter on its online store. While the company remains very secretive about the hardware that will be launched at the event, the key devices expected to be unveiled are the Google Pixel 3 and Google Pixel 3 XL smartphones. But now Google is raising the price back up to $12 as its introduces a new model of adapter which is smaller and more powerful than its predecessor.

'Monster' Hurricane Florence takes aim at U.S. Southeast
Trouble began brewing last week, when three hurricanes-Florence, Isaac, and Helene-starting churning up the North Atlantic. Some regions are expected to receive more than 20 inches of rain from the hurricane and its giant knot of storm clouds.

Not just that, Google also seems to have made it shorter this time around at 3.67-inch, which should make it a little better to the carry around in your pocket. Specifically, it provides 38% more playback time and has 53% improvement on plug-in latency, according to a footnote on the adapter's listing page. As well as making a previously back-breaking 5.3g cable a feather-light 4.9g, Google has managed to improve its performance too.

There was hubbub around the launch of the original adapter, which Google was hawking for an nearly insulting $20. That could be because it's now the company's only product that requires the adapter, although it does also mention "other devices running Android P or higher".
