Donald Trump: China 'Under Pressure' to Make a Deal with United States

A series of companies want President Trump to know that tariffs are hurting US industries.

China may not be able to match future USA tariffs dollar for dollar and has warned that it would take other measures. "Now the two sides are in communication on relevant details".

Stocks in Europe rose earlier as prospects for U.S.

The U.S. has enjoyed near-record low joblessness and faster economic growth in 2018, while Beijing's economy faces growing long-term concerns, including a sharp decline in the value of its currency.

Talk might be cheap, but it is certainly better than another round of multi-billion-dollar tit-for-tat tariffs between the United States and China.

"My guess is that they won't receive an enthusiastic response from the Chinese, because the Chinese probably just don't think that the Trump administration itself necessarily wants a deal or is willing to offer anything", Mr Kennedy said during a research trip to China.

Half the respondents reported they had endured more inspections, delayed customs clearance and other forms of heightened regulatory scrutiny.

A trade war is ultimately about who has more to lose.

Beijing has pledged to hit back with five to 25 per cent tariffs on $60 billion in U.S. imports in retaliation for any measures from the US.

News of the invite comes as it emerged Thursday that USA firms in China are beginning to feel the pinch of tariffs already imposed on the Asian giant.

Region now under hurricane, storm surge watches
The storm was about 880 miles east of the Lesser Antilles - a region still recovering from last year's powerful Hurricane Maria. North Carolina's governor, Roy Cooper, said: "North Carolina is taking #HurricaneFlorence seriously, and you should too".

Beijing has issued a list of $60 billion of American products for retaliation if Trump's next tariff hike goes ahead.

"The U.S. administration runs the risk of a downward spiral of attack and counterattack, benefiting no one", William Zarit said in the statement.

To avoid the tariffs, 30 percent of USA companies are looking at moving assembly out of the United States or China or finding new suppliers, the chambers said.

The unpredictability around the trade fight is hampering investment decisions as investors need stability to make sound decisions, Beebe said. It said the conflict is "causing significant disruptions to global supply chains".

China accuses the United States of launching "the largest trade war in economic history" and has retaliated in kind. That prompted worries it would use regulatory controls to disrupt US business operations in China.

Another business group, the U.S.

More than 60 per cent of U.S. companies polled said the United States tariffs were already affecting their business operations, while a similar percentage said Chinese duties on USA goods were having an impact on business.

That shows "neither side is 'winning, '" because "both are equally prone to losing companies", the chamber said.

On Wednesday, organizations representing companies in industries including retailing, toy manufacturing, farming and technology plan to announce they are cooperating on a lobbying campaign called Tariffs Hurt the Heartland to oppose tariffs on imports, according to Dow Jones Newswires.

"We support President Trump's efforts to reset US-China trade relations, address long-standing inequities and level the playing field", Zheng said.
