Netflix release trailer for Robert the Bruce film, Outlaw King

Game of Thrones star Stphen Dilliane plays King Edward

Robert the Bruce is in the spotlight this time as he rallies his countrymen to stand up to King Edward I and his brutal occupation.

Movie fans were given the first look at the Outlaw King - which was made by local filmmaker David Mackenzie, who studied at Dundee's Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design - on Monday afternoon. Chris Pine stars as the "Braveheart" character played by Angus Macfadyen. Will you head out to theaters to see the movie when it's released, or will you just be streaming it on Netflix? After claiming the throne of Scotland in the 1300s, Robert is declared an outlaw by the king of England and forced to go on the run. One other strike against it is the casting of Chris Pine. The screenplay for Outlaw King was written by Bash Doran, James MacInnes, and David Mackenzie, with additional writing by Mark Bomback and David Harrower.

The film tells a "David v. Goliath story" of how the great 14th Century Scottish "Outlaw King'" Robert The Bruce used cunning and bravery to defeat and repel the much larger and better equipped occupying English army.
