White House Counsel Don McGahn Cooperating in Mueller Probe

WASHINGTON D.C.- APRIL 22 2018 An American flag flies over the south facade of the White House in Washington D.C. Additional security fences and barriers were added along the south perimeter to prevent people from jumping the fence and entering the

McGahn's lawyer gave the Trump team an overview of the first interview, but didn't say what his client divulged in subsequent interactions with the special counsel.

Mueller, who is investigating allegations of Russian meddling in the 2016 US election, learned of the incident in subsequent months as his investigators interviewed current and former senior White House officials in an inquiry into whether the president obstructed justice.

President accuses Democrats of using the special counsel to impact midterm elections; Kevin Corke reports from the White House. The president immediately reacted Saturday evening, saying that it was he who allowed McGahn and others to be interviewed and ordered "millions" of pages of documents to be provided.

Trump is systematically trying to discredit the independent investigation, and he has not sat down with Mueller's team, which The Post has reported has threatened to subpoena the president.

Sunday morning, Trump continued tweeting, affirming he had "nothing to hide".

On Sunday, the New York Times also reported that charges are likely by the end of this month against Michael Cohen, Trump's former lawyer and fixer who is being investigated regarding alleged fraud and his role in payments to women who claim to have had affairs with Trump.

The top lawyer in the White House is "co-operating extensively" with the Russian Federation inquiry into election meddling, the New York Times reports. The suggestion that McGahn flipped inspired memorable tirades from Trump and his attorney, Rudy Giuliani.

Netflix is Testing Video Promotions Between TV Episodes
Netflix has begun testing promotional videos for its original content that play between episodes of shows a viewer is streaming. The video promos also displace the preview information of the next episode of the TV show which the user is watching.

Giuliani said he did not believe McGahn was cooperating against the president, noting Trump's lawyers and McGahn's have a joint defense agreement that would have otherwise ended.

In his tweet, Trump again called the Times "failing", but the newspaper actually reported a healthy second-quarter profit.

On Monday, repeating a spelling mistake made numerous times over the weekend, Trump thundered: "Disgraced and discredited Bob Mueller and his whole group of Angry Democrat Thugs spent over 30 hours with the White House Councel [sic], only with my approval, for purposes of transparency". But he had drawn an analogy to the communist witch hunt once before - when he falsely claimed that President Barack Obama had tapped his phones in Trump Tower.

While McGahn says he never saw Trump go beyond his legal authorities, The New York Times says he gave investigators a mix of information both "damaging and favorable" to the president.

Asked his view about the level of McGahn's cooperation with Mueller's team, CNN legal analyst Ross Garber told CNN anchor Fredricka Whitfield on Saturday, "It really is extraordinary". Also, Nixon knew I was meeting with prosecutors, b/c I told him.

"You don't waive privilege. if you're guilty", he said. "He just told the truth as he was required to".

The President also took the opportunity to jab at Mueller's now year-long investigation, which has reportedly turned up little evidence of collusion between the Trump campaign and Russian officials looking to sway the results of the 2016 Presidential election. "And when you tell me that, you know, he should testify because he's going to tell the truth and he shouldn't worry, well that's so silly because it's somebody's version of the truth".
