Ozil Racism Claims 'Nonsense', Says Ex-Germany Team-Mate Kroos

Mesut Ozil Tony Kroos

German worldwide Toni Kroos has blasted former teammate Mesut Ozil for the manner in which he retired from global football and the racism claims he made.

Arsenal midfielder Ozil was controversially pictured with Turkish president Recep Erdogan and then under-performed as defending champions Germany crashed out of the World Cup at the group stage.

The 29-year-old Germany global has endured a turbulent off-season that began with a divisive meeting with controversial Turkey president Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

'I think that he knows that racism does not exist within the national team and the DFB.

Kroos told German magazine Sport Bild: "Basically Mesut deserved to be a national team player and deserved a better farewell".

"The way of his retirement was not okay".

"The part of it which was good and properly was unfortunately overshadowed by the much higher proportion of nonsense".

Donald Trump's Social Media Solution? A Free-For-All For Both 'Good And Bad'
Owens said on "Fox & Friends" that she finds it comical that social media bans seems to only be happening with conservative voices.

Kroos has now come out and hit back at his former Germany teammate, inisisting there is no racism in the national team and DFB.

Further scrutiny of the playmaker led him to subsequently quit worldwide duties, citing a perceived sense of racist treatment from the German Football Federation in his retirement statement, sparking another war of words over his conduct.

'And he missed the chance to explain himself. The meeting raised questions about the pair's loyalty to Germany and sparked fierce debate on the eve of the World Cup about integration in Germany. The type of criticism was certainly not always at a good level - but you have to go through [that] as a player'. He said, "I will continue my global career".

"I will continue towards Euro 2020 and have set myself the goal of being far more successful there than in the recent past", Kroos said. And physically and mentally equally demanding.

The 29-year-old Arsenal midfielder said, "I'm aware that the picture of us caused a huge response in the German media, and whilst some people may accuse me of lying or being deceitful. For me, that's the only way, and I am thankful for Jogi's understanding".

"My son Leon absolutely wanted me to continue playing for Germany. It would have been hard to say no".
