Akshay Kumar, John Abraham both strike gold

Vicky Kaushal at the screening

Despite a box office clash with Akshay Kumar and Mouni Roy-starrer Gold, Satyamev Jayate has managed to retain a stronghold at the box office and earned over Rs 20 crore on the opening day. Satyameva Jayate's current total now stands at Rs 28.44 crore.

While Gold has landed Akshay Kumar the biggest opening day of his career, with collections of over Rs 25 crore, Satyameva Jayate has done the same for John Abraham, with collections of around Rs 20 crore. The combined box office collections of Satyameva Jayate and Gold on Day 1 was approximately Rs 45 crore.

Gold witnessed a significant dip in its collection on its second day, given that it was a working day.

Satyameva Jayate, John Abraham's Independence Day release, opened to good box office numbers, but on Day 2, the film's collections dropped massively.

Celebrity Big Brother 2018: Emma Willis sparks concern during launch
Presenter Kaye Adams said Daniels was prevented from appearing on the show due to legal issues. Celebrity Big Brother continues tonight at 9pm on Channel 5.

"True to their titles both Gold and Satyameva Jayate have emerge victorious at the box-office".

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh mentioned that the film is doing extremely well at the single screens.

Abraham's best solo performer so far, has been action drama Force 2 that had made Rs 5.75 crore, so there is good news for him too. Since today is a partial holiday, a double digit score is expected for both.

According to Box Office India, while most circuits reported equally healthy numbers for both films, Gold took the lead in circuits like Delhi and Uttar Pradesh, East Punjab and Mumbai thanks to Kumar's massy fan following.
