Liverpool refer Salah to police after driving incident

The video, which was posted on Facebook, shows Salah with his phone in his hand and later, after moving his vehicle further forward, with both hands on the phone as he sits in traffic.

The club took the action after speaking to the Egypt global following the video being posted online.

The Premier League club said that they have alerted the Merseyside Police about the video. The Egypt striker had scored the opening goal of the game.

In the video, some fans seem to be jostling for the Salah's attention as his auto stops at a traffic light.

Mr Salah keeps focused on the device, ignoring fans surrounding his auto in hopes of autographs and pictures.

The Liverpool ace then appears to put the phone down before driving off.

A spokesman for Liverpool FC told the BBC: "The club, after discussion with the player, have made Merseyside Police aware of the footage and the circumstances surrounding it's capture".

Liverpool Football Club has also released a statement about the footage. "Neither the club nor player will be making any further comment on this matter".

While rival fans argued that Salah behaved arrogantly towards the fans, his supporters said that he was entitled to his privacy.

The boy ran straight up to Salah with the 26-year-old embracing him before having a quiet word in his ear and telling him to leave the pitch. He also asked the stewards to go easy on the kid.
