Glastonbury’s Laura Ingraham: I wasn’t talking about race

During her Thursday "Ingraham Angle" on Fox News Channel, Laura Ingraham addressed pushback and misrepresentations of her remarks from Thursday where she explained how America was changing with the shift in how Democrats view immigration.

At the top of "The Ingraham Angle", she weighed in on a podcast's recent interview with Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a Democratic candidate for a House seat in NY, in which she said the upper-middle-class, moderate Americans many in the Democratic Party try to pander to no longer exist.

"Furthermore as I have said repeatedly on this show, merit-based immigration does wonders for our country's economy, our way of life, and how we define our country", she added.

CNN's Van Jones said Friday that he sees "zero difference" between Fox News host Laura Ingraham slamming "demographic changes" in the US and the beliefs of white supremacists. She also said that her statement was "not about race".

"From Virginia to California, we see stark examples of how radically, in some ways, the country's changed".

Trump doubles steel and aluminium tariffs on Turkey
On Friday, he said the country had to take steps in answer "to those who have waged an economic war against us". Turkish authorities have demanded that he be extradited, something American officials have dismissed.

Still, MSNBC's Mika Brzezinski called it a "white supremacist speech" on Friday.

Her program averaged 37 paid advertisements in March but was down to 15 in July, according to Media Matters for America, a liberal Fox News critic that monitors its programming. Since "The Ingraham Angle" premiered in October, it has been the subject of two waves of boycotts for her often controversial comments. "They're saying the people are a problem, not just the entry".

Advertisers started pulling out nearly immediately, and by the following month she had lost more than two dozen. "Immigrants are here to stay because that's all we are". Her comments were endorsed by former Ku Klux Klan leader David Duke, presumably the "racist freak" she was addressing Thursday night.

Fox News did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
