DOOM Eternal Reveals New Gameplay

DOOM ETERNAL
    MORE INFO TO FOLLOW

Doom tethered the demonic alien hordes to the Martian hellscape and kept them well away from our home planet, but that all changes with Doom Eternal. Gameplay for Doom Eternal will be shown off for the first time amid the actual QuakeCon keynote, so expect more info to unravel as the event starts. Some are new, others are old - and thanks to the new "destructible demon" feature, some can be torn into itty-bitty chunks. Doom Eternal turns up the dial because it offers more weapons like the grappling hook and sword.

We already knew Doom Eternal was set to have twice as many demon types as Doom 2016, but you can't really appreciate that kind of abstract detail until you see so many of them shrieking towards the screen in a single setting.

The second major piece of footage takes place on Phobos, one of the moons of Mars, and has a much more sci-fi look.

McDonald's offering chance to win McGold Card, free food for life
McDonald's fans will need to place an order on the app from August 10 and before August 24 at 11.59pm. More than 14,000 branches of McDonald's in the United Kingdom are taking part.

There was also a glimpse of some interesting looking concept art that didn't look like anything seen in the games so far, in that it wasn't obviously Hell or Earth (or Mars).

The game looks to be even faster than its predecessor, introducing some new traversal mechanics like swinging from an exposed pipe. Id hasn't said whether Doom Eternal will have a traditional multiplayer mode like Doom 2016 did, but honestly, this sounds a lot better.

One interesting thing about DOOM Eternal is that it will allow players to take over demons and "invade" another player's game. Based on what was revealed at the show, it sounds like this is going to be a new Doom game rather than a remaster or a remake.
