Transfer: Manchester United in talks to sign Chelsea defender

Kurt Zouma Stoke City 2017-18

Everton were linked with a deadline day loan swoop for Chelsea's Premier League youngster Kurt Zouma, but the transfer window has now closed.

The Toffees left it late to make an approach to loan the France worldwide but as both sides submitted their paperwork before the 5pm deadline, the deal was allowed to proceed.

Now 24, Tyias Browning is approaching the age where he would have been hoping to get regular first-team experience at Everton but the signing of Mina could push him out of the picture entirely, as he has just seven Premier League appearances in six years.

Quoting tweets by Liam Twomey, a journalist close to Chelsea, The Daily Express claims that there has simply been a delay in processing the paperwork and the transfer will still happen.

France floods: German man missing, 1600 campers evacuated
The French weather service has issued orange and yellow alerts for parts of southeast France that will remain in place until 4pm. Almost 120 children were evacuated from the site as emergency teams helped around 750 people to safety across the Gard region.

His arrival at the club has been followed by several high-calibre players including Bernard, Lucas Digne, Andre Gomes, Yerry Mina and Richarlison.

The new Chelsea manager has a wealth of options in central defence and has allowed Zouma to leave the club on loan.

The French global spent last season out on loan at Stoke City but couldn't prevent them from being relegated from the Premier League and he's now facing an uncertain future back at Chelsea under Maurizio Sarri.

Mourinho was the man in charge at Stamford Bridge when Zouma was signed from St Etienne in 2014 but after a promising start to his career in west London the 23-year-old fell out-of-favour under Antonio Conte.
