Malcolm Jenkins Resumes Protest By Raising Fist During National Anthem

WTVJ Miami reported that Dolphins defensive end Robert Quinn raised his fist during the song. Philadelphia Eagles Malcolm Jenkins, who plays safety, and De'Vante Bausby, a cornerback, also raised their fists, according to The Philadelphia Enquirer.

Michael Bennett of the Eagles did not participate in the anthem and instead walked out of the tunnel and toward the bench while the anthem was sung, Bowen reported.

In July, the NFL made a decision to suspend its new anthem policy which required all players on the field to stand for the national anthem.

Miami Dolphins wide receivers Kenny Stills and Albert Wilson knelt during the national anthem before the team's preseason opener against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, becoming the first players to do so since the NFL tried to implement a rule requiring players to stand. The players included Jalen Ramsey, Telvin Smith, Leonard Fournette and T.J. Yeldon.

A dozen games were played Thursday night.

Bolt joins Central Coast Mariners on an 'indefinite training period'
Football Federation Australia responded last month with caution when reports emerged of Bolt's hopes to play in the A-League. The World's Fastest Man is heading to the NSW Central Coast. .

The anthem controversy has been rumbling since 2016, when then-San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick knelt during the anthem to draw attention to racial injustice. Many vowed to risk the fine and continue protesting, despite the policy.

Kaepernick applauded the Dolphins players shortly after the display for their protest of "systemic oppression".

The debate ratcheted up a notch in 2017 when US President Donald Trump said kneeling players showed "total disrespect for our great country". The NFL instituted a new policy in March that banned kneeling, but the policy was suspended as the league and NFLPA try and work toward a compromise.

Stills has routinely knelt for the anthem during his time with the team.
