High number of Cape Cod mosquitoes with West Nile virus

Cases of West Nile Virus have been confirmed in 36 states including California Florida Georgia Iowa Louisiana Massachusetts Minnesota North Carolina and Texas according to the CDC

Cases of the West Nile virus have also been reported in 2018 in Hungary, Italy, Romania, and Serbia, according to data from the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control.

Health officials said that doesn't automatically mean there's cause for alarm.

The mosquito that tested positive for West Nile, came from a mosquito trap on North Market Extension in St. Clairsville, in the area near the ball fields and walking trail.

Cases generally tend to spike during the summer and fall months, between June and September, when activity is the most common. West Nile was found in Minnesota in 2002.
