Dennis Shields and Bethenny Frankel walking in Manhattan

The on-again, off-again boyfriend of Bethenny Frankel - Real Housewives of NY star and founder of Skinnygirl Cocktails was found dead Friday in his apartment in Trump Tower.

Dennis Shields, 51, was found unconscious and unresponsive in his Trump Tower apartment on Fifth Ave.in Midtown around 10 a.m. Medics said he was dead at the scene.

Frankel and Shields first began dating in 2016, after having known each other for 30 years.

"We are all heartbroken". Our hearts go out to Shield's family and loved ones - including Bethenny - during this hard time. "Please respect our family's privacy at this time". Apparently, he had asked his assistant to administer Narcan at 9 AM after fearing that he was overdosing on prescription pills (reportedly oxycodone, according to TMZ), lost consciousness before the Narcan, which is used to counteract the effects of opioids, could start working and allegedly overdosed.

Frankel previously described her relationship with Shields as "a little bit like business" while appearing on Steve Harvey's daytime talk show.

Dennis's death has been reported as a "suspected overdose", although that fact has not been confirmed yet.

She called her relationship with Shields, a NY banker, complicated during an interview with Steve Harvey in May.

"I've been with someone on and off for years", she said in May, according to PEOPLE. "If both people aren't happy about it but slightly uncomfortable and giving up something or giving in [to] something, it doesn't work. So both partners have to say, 'All right, I'm in it for this'".

Frankel added: "And I think we might be at that point, believe it or not..."

Shields reportedly grew up with Cohen and they have remained friends.
