WikiLeaks says Senate panel seeks interview with Assange

London England. Julian Assange founder of the Wikileaks website that published US Government secrets has been wanted in Sweden

Richard Burr (R-N.C.) and Sen.

"As you are aware, the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence is conducting a bipartisan inquiry into Russian interference in the 2016 US elections", the letter addressed to Assange says.

That's according to WikiLeaks, which tweeted Wednesday that a letter was delivered to Assange in London seeking a "closed interview" with committee staff at a "mutually agreeable time and location". The organization also pointed out that Warner was among 10 senators who demanded in June that Assange's asylum be revoked in violation of global law.

Over a month before the Senate Intelligence Committee's letter arrived in London, ten Democrat senators sent a petition to Vice President Mike Pence, demanding that he press the Ecuadorian government to revoke Assange's asylum.

In the run-up to the 2016 U.S. presidential election, WikiLeaks published documents hacked from Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton's campaign.

Hall wins Women's British Open for 1st major title
Three - Minjee Lee, Mamiko Higa, and Georgia Hall - were, like Phatlum, playing for their first major championship title. The world no. 39 from Bournemouth came from behind to overturn the lead held overnight by Thailand's Pornanong Phatlum .

Despite Assange's central role in the release of the DNC emails, the Senate intelligence committee's testimony request appears to the first time that investigators reached out to the Wikileaks founder.

The Senate Intelligence Committee wants to interview WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange as part of its investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election. In July, special counsel Robert Mueller indicted 12 Russian military intelligence officers allegedly behind the "fictitious persona" Guccifer 2.o.

The Swedish investigation has since been dropped but Assange stayed in the embassy, as he still faces arrest by British police for skipping bail six years ago.

Assange fled to the Ecuadorian embassy in London in 2012, seeking asylum from possible extradition to the USA, where he faced indictment under the Espionage Act for publishing leaked government documents.
