Move over Kalank, Karan Johar just announced Kareena's Takht and it’s huge!

Well, latest news on the block regarding the magnum-opus is that Dharma Productions and Karan Johar himself has revealed the title and the starry cast of the much awaited film.

Karan Johar has announced his next directorial project and its star cast will blow your mind.

Titled "Takht", the period drama will star Ranveer Singh, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Alia Bhatt, Janhvi Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, Vicky Kaushal and Bhumi Pednekar.

Takht revolves around the battle for the throne of the Mughal empire. Like most Dharma Productions, the film is touted to be a dramatic story about family, love, succession and how ambition and greed change the dynamics of relationships.

Johar's last film as director was 2016's "Ae Dil Hai Mushkil", starring Aishwarya Rai, Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma, with a cameo from Shah Rukh Khan.

The poster looks spectacular and royal, with a colour scheme that represents war, love, royalty and drama.

The film-maker revealed the teaser poster of the film on Twitter with an announcement that read, " I am so excited and honoured to announce the lead cast of #TAKHT @RanveerOfficial #KareenaKapoorKhan @aliaa08 @vickykaushal09 @psbhumi #JanhviKapoor @AnilKapoor #HirooYashJohar @apoorvamehta18 @sumit_roy_ @hussainhaidry". Alia, who made her Bollywood debut with Karan Johar's Student Of The Year in 2012, tweeted: "Back where I began, to my roots". TAKHT! Directed by the one and ONLY!

Co-produced by Hiroo Johar and Apoorva Mehta, Takht will release in 2020.
