Israeli strike kills two Hamas militants in Gaza

U.S. President Donald Trump speaks about the mass shooting at a Florida high school

At least two Palestinians were killed on Tuesday when the Israeli army shelled a site affiliated with Hamas in the northern Gaza Strip, the Palestinian Health Ministry said in a statement.

An Israeli military statement, apparently referring to the same incident, said that the army returned fire after shots were fired at its soldiers from a Hamas post in the northern Gaza Strip, next to the border with Israel.

Israel killed two Hamas fighters following shooting attacks on its soldiers, spurring threats of revenge from the terrorist group that runs the Gaza Strip.

Israel says Hamas, which rules Gaza, is using the protests as cover to carry out cross-border attacks.

Following a meeting with other resistance factions, al-Masri told reporters that the Palestinian resistance would "not allow Israel to breach the terms of the truce". The video then cuts to separate footage of a shell hitting the post and an explosion.

In Gaza, Hamas's military wing, the Qassam Brigades, issued a statement saying that it "mourns the two Mujahedeen" and that they had been "martyred in a Zionist bombardment".

"The resistance can not allow the occupation to impose a policy of bombing sites and targeting fighters without paying the price", it said in a statement.

A 17-year-old Palestinian died of his wounds on Saturday after being shot by Israeli forces near the Gaza security fence, where protests have been ongoing since March.

In the past four months, there has been an upsurge in violence along the Gaza-Israel border.

Israeli forces stop and search a Palestinian boy at the entrance of Damascus Gate, outside Jerusalem's Old City.
