Chelsea agree to sell Thibaut Courtois to Real Madrid

Chelsea have completed the signing of Athletic goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga, breaking the world record fee paid for a goalkeeper by parting with a reported £72m.

The Star report that the Blues have triggered the 23-year old Spaniard's release-clause, which is a goalkeeper world-record - £72 million.

Breaking the bank for Kepa is a drastic change of direction for Chelsea, having lost out to Liverpool in the race for Brazil No. 1 Alisson earlier this summer due to their reluctance to meet Roma's valuation of the player, who ultimately moved to Anfield for £56m.

In January, he signed a new long-term contract with Bilbao until 2025, amid interest from Real Madrid.

Kepa is eligible to make his debut for Chelsea in the Premier League opener against Huddersfield Town on Saturday and said: "It's a very important decision for me, for my career, and also for my personal life".

Tuttosport claim Juventus will move for Marcelo if and when they sell Alex Sandro to PSG.

She later appeared in small films and television shows until 2017, including RL Stine's The Haunting Hour . She received a Daytime Emmy Award as outstanding performer in a kids' series in 2015 for that role.

Real Madrid have confirmed that Courtois will undergo a medical on Thursday morning, before signing a six-year deal and being presented at 1pm local time (midday BST).

Chelsea added in a statement that subjects to the completion of the Courtois deal, Croatian midfielder Mateo Kovacic would join the Blues from Real on a season-long loan.

Chelsea's lack of forward planning for the new season has been much criticised as Antonio Conte's departure as manager and the appointment of Maurizio Sarri as his successor was delayed until just a month before the new campaign.

Kepa had been with Athletic since 2004, rising through the youth ranks.

Arrizabalaga becomes the most expensive goalkeeper in football history, ahead of Liverpool's Alisson, who moved from AS Roma for 75 million euros earlier in the transfer window.
