'Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindlewald' SDCC 2018 trailer

Perhaps most notably, however, is the addition of Jude Law, who has been cast to play a young Albus Dumbledore. The famed wizard was introduced in the Potter series as Hogwarts' headmaster.

Actor Johnny Depp gave Harry Potter fans a look at his coming portrayal of the pale and disheveled villain Grindelwald, delivering a monologue in character to a cheering audience at San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday.

The trailer shows Newt, Tina, Jacob and Queenie as they gather in Paris to defend the wizarding world from Grindelwald's growing power.

Following the release of a new trailer for the film, cast members were asked what they would do if they could use a magic spell.

Check out the trailer below, and The Crimes Of Grindelwald will arrive in Irish cinemas on Friday 16 November. Depp wasn't revealed until the very end of the first movie, but that set him up to be a major part of Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald and, in all likelihood, a fixture of future movies in the planned-five movie franchise.

While some were pleased to see Depp in his first public appearance since his harrowing interview with Rolling Stone, many were outraged that the two came so close to sharing the stage.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Law said: 'Jo Rowling revealed some years back that Dumbledore was gay.

Before Harry Potter's Voldemort was Grindelwald, a dark wizard who has a deep history with Dumbledore. J.K. Rowling has come out in defense of his casting.

Per the film's synopsis, "the adventure reunites Newt with Tina, Queenie and Jacob, but his mission will also test their loyalties as they face new perils in an increasingly risky and divided wizarding world".

Meanwhile, the new trailer for Fantastic Beasts 2 was released much to the excitement of the fans.

(L-R) Aisha Tyler, Eddie Redmayne, Claudia Kim, Zoe Kravitz, Callum Turner, Ezra Miller, Alison Sudol, Dan Fogler, Katherine Waterson and Jude Law participate in the Warner Bros.

The trailer for the film was also shown at the event alongside the panel discussion.
