Denver Nuggets Provide Injury Update On Michael Porter Jr

Suddenly the Knicks’ Kevin Knox pick looks even better

"Michael Porter Jr. has undergone surgery of the lumbar spine at The Carrell Clinic in Dallas", the Nuggets said in a press release.

Injury concerns prompted most teams to pass on Porter in the Draft, but the Nuggets felt good about taking the former McDonald's All-American with the 14th overall pick. With all of their key pieces back, a (hopefully) healthy season from Paul Millsap, who missed more than half of last season due to injury and the addition of Isaiah Thomas, the Nuggets' rotation is in solid shape, even without Porter.

This is the second back surgery which Porter has undergone in the past 12 months, as he had a microdiscectomy of his L3-L4 spinal disks in November 2017.

Trump threatens tariffs on all US$505 billion of Chinese imports
Even while threatening China, Trump tried to reassure the Chinese government that he was not looking to "scare" the country. And last week, the administration announced plans for yet more tariffs on $200 billion worth of additional Chinese imports.

That is the same city where the 6-foot-10 rookie underwent a microdiscectomy in November, causing him to miss almost all of his freshman season at the University of Missouri. The team has not given any indication as to when it expects him to be ready to play, but a Nuggets spokesperson told an update on Porter's health would be given by the team's medical staff soon. "The procedure was performed by Dr. Andrew Dossett". Porter returned late in the season to play a pair of games for the Tigers - one each in the SEC and NCAA tournaments. At this point, he basically has no re-draft value this season.

Denver narrowly missed out on making the Western Conference playoffs last season for the first time in five years, losing the eighth seed to the Minnesota Timberwolves in the final game of the year.
